The American Board of Genetic Counseling (ABGC) has recently contacted the ABMG with information regarding their new plans for their certification examination. Based on the needs of their diplomates and their board, ABGC will be moving from a two exam format (general exam
and specialty exam) to a yearly all inclusive single exam format. As a result of this change, they will no longer be participating in the ABMG designed general examination. This change will have no impact on ABMG candidates as the grading of the general examination has
always been separate for ABGC and ABMG examinees.
The ABMG wishes the ABGC Board of Directors, their diplomates, and candidates the best in this new endeavor and look forward to continued interactions with the ABGC in our activities within the medical genetics profession.
If you would like more information regarding the ABGC’s plan for future certification examinations, please see visit the ABGC website.
