EMOC Part III Examination Information:
-
Cumulative Board Results EMOC Part III December 2008
- Registration for the August 3-7, 2009 examination is OPEN. To register, enter the ABMG portal, go to EMOC/Part III and pay for the examination. Scheduling permits will be mailed in the spring of 2009.
- Registrants for the Part III examination who have not paid their current or past due EMOC annual fee cannot recertify until the fee is paid in full.
- MD diplomates who uploaded a medical license in the ABMG portal that is now expired will not be able to recertify until a current unexpired copy is uploaded into the portal.

EMOC Requirements for PhD Medical geneticists have changed, click here to view the changes (EMOC announcements)

Program directors be advised, all residents and/or
fellows entering a residency and/or fellowship training
program beginning July 1, 2008 or later, must apply for
certification within five years of completing a genetics
residency and/or fellowship training program.

ABMG will offer the first subspecialty certification
examination in Medical Biochemical Genetics in 2009.

Important Dates

The purposes of the ABMG shall be: (a) to
elevate the standards and advance the art and science of
medical genetics by encouraging its study and improving its
practice; (b) to conduct examinations to determine the
qualifications of medical geneticists who voluntarily apply
to the ABMG for certification as Diplomates; (c) to grant
and issue Diplomate certificates in the field of medical
genetics and its various specialty areas to those medical
geneticists who have received adequate preparation in
accordance with the ABMG's educational, training, and
experience requirements, and who have passed the
comprehensive Certification Examinations administered by the
ABMG; (d) to maintain a registry of holders of such
certificates; (e) to evaluate and accredit qualified
training programs in the field of medical genetics; and (f)
thereby, to improve the public health.
